Palm Beach Opera: ‘The Pirates of Penzance’

April 7, 2017 @ 7:30 pm

W.S. Gilbert and Arthur Sullivan’s 1879 comic operetta about Frederic, apprenticed to a band of pirates until he turns 21. Unfortunately, he was born on Feb. 29, so he’s technically only 5 and has many more years to go. The great American mezzo Stephanie Blythe cameos as Ruth, Frederic’s maid, while Andrew Stenson sings Frederic, Sarah Joy Miller is Mabel, Hugh Russell is Major General Stanley, Michael Todd Simpson is the Pirate King, and Mark Schnaible is the Chief of Police. David Stern conducts, and Bill Fabris stage-directs in this first ever G&S at Palm Beach Opera.
