Palm Beach Opera: ‘Madama Butterfly’

Giacomo Puccini’s 1904 heartbreaker about the Japanese geisha girl Cio-Cio San and her faithless U.S. lover, Lt. Benjamin Franklin Pinkerton, was Puccini’s own favorite of his operas, and a sure-fire box office success. American soprano Alexandra Loutsion is Butterfly, and the American tenor Adam Diegel is Pinkerton. Latvian mezzo Zanda Svede is Suzuki in a production directed by Sam Helfrich and conducted by house maestro David Stern.
